Rotational Chief Engineer – 100m Private M/Y

Start date: August

Location: Caribbean/Mediterranean

Package: Salary in Euros. 182.5 days leave per year. Time for time rotation

Experience and attributes required:

A minimum of 5+ years in the role on 80m+ yachts or previous commercial experience would be required.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Operational and financial management of the Engineering department.
  • Write and maintain Chief Engineer’s Standing Orders.
  • Comply with Flag State, Class, MARPOL and Local Regulations concerning all discharge.
  • Safe and efficient running of the yachts mechanical plant and associated systems.
  • Planning of all shipyard and refit periods in association with the Captain.
  • The maintenance and renewal of all Yacht certificates relevant to Engineering department.
  • Engine Room watch-keeping as required.
  • Organization of the engineering planned maintenance including accurate and thorough record keeping.
  • Responsible for all on-board fuels and oils and lubricants and keeping the Captain informed.
  • Organization and overseeing all bunkering operations.
  • Immediate reporting of any major engineering concerns to the Captain.
  • Assisting the Safety Officer in maintaining all FFE, LSE and security equipment.
  • Direct all engineering maintenance of all tenders and toys and keeping records of such.
  • Oversee maintenance and cleanliness of all engineering spaces.
  • Reviews the Engineering working and watch-keeping rosters compiled by 2nd Engineer.
  • Training all Engineering crew.
  • Reporting of any safety related defects to the Chief Officer.

Qualifications required (all mandatory):

STCW III/2 Chief Engineer unlimited

STCW basic and advanced- fully updated

PSA and PDSD

Seafarer’s Medical Certificate

Seaman’s Discharge book

B1/B2 visa preferred

*Must be willing to undergo extensive background checks and pre-employment drug test (not applicable for internal transfers)*

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Yacht or a Cruise Ship.

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications:

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
