Marine Chief Engineer

Egyptian company, seeking to hire an experienced Marine Chief Engineer, for a Cruise Ship (total weight 3000tons, length 109m, width 15meters, three engines (CAT: 3412) 764 HP each and three generators (CAT 3412 (2x209 HP) and CAT 3306 (1x209 HP) to work with permanent contract full-time job in Upper Egypt /Lake Nasser.

The Marine Chief Engineer leads the technical team on board in order to keep the ship equipment and hull always in the optimum condition.

Responsibilities

• Monitor vessel performance, fuel consumption, and machinery operation to identify areas for improvement and implement measures to reduce operational costs.

• Plan and supervise dry-docking, major repairs, and refits of vessel, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget.

• Negotiate contracts and estimate project costs. Procure materials needed to repair marine equipment and machinery.

• Provide technical guidance and support onboard engineering team, assisting them in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.

• Perform maintenance and repairs on engines, generators, marine, electrical machines and heating, ventilation, refrigeration, water, hydraulic & sewage systems.

• Prepare technical reports and design analysis documentation at mechanical, electrical & hydraulic systems.

• Complete service records, repair documents, costs & plans

• Confirm adherence to safety regulations automatic controls, alarm systems and operate the vessel's firefighting system.

• Perform monitoring activities in order to ensure that ship complies with international regulations and standards for life saving equipment and pollution preventions.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree Marine Chief Engineer BSc. Or Chief Engineer certificate.

• Minimum of ten years' experience as a Marine Chief engineer οr Chief Engineer on board. With solid Knowledge of International Cods: ISM-SOLAS-MARBOL.

• Ability to relocate to Egypt on long term basis and ability to work and lead an Egyptian Team (Mechanics/Electricians).

• Excellent computer literacy, Fluent in spoken and written English, Friendly and easy-going team player.

Basic certificates:

Seaman book, RO-RO, Advance Medical Care, Advance Fire Fighting, Advance Survival Craft, ENG1, Clean criminal record.

General:
At the moment, the ship is being re-classified by one of the Classification Societies.
The current work involves overhauling the engines, generators, and propellers. In addition to checking the hull welds and the utilities piping networks, as well as, upgrading the navigation equipment and safety systems.

The chief engineer will be responsible for leading the subject works in coordination with the different service providers, to ensure the works are up to the applicable industry standards and based on the Classification Society regulations
