Overview

Our client is looking for a highly experienced and ideally Michelin Star trained Private Chef with exceptional culinary skills and a passion for food and service.

Based in a fully staffed, state of the art private residence in Virginia Water, Surrey, the role requires fine dining experience and a deep understanding of high-end cuisine and personalised dining.

During the week, catering will be required in the evenings for the Principle and his partner and on Sunday’s lunch for extended family or guests. In addition, once a month a five-course fine dining experience for up to eighteen guests will be required. The owner of the property has created an environment of growth, support, and care of their staff, determined that each member of the team is happy and feels valued. The residence is a family home, which includes guest suites and an exceptional entertainment facility, where the couple enjoys hosting dinners, ranging from small groups, to up to one hundred guests.

The Chef must be committed to going above and beyond in sourcing the freshest produce — not only from trusted local suppliers but also from the finest producers across the UK. This includes day-boat fresh lobsters from the South West, premium beef and meats from farms in the Lake District, and tender asparagus from the renowned farms of Evesham.

This position demands flexibility, creativity, and the utmost professionalism, including the ability to cater for both intimate family meals and formal entertaining.

Job duties
Responsibilities of the Michelin Star trained Private Chef in Surrey, include:

Food prep:

  • Plan, prepare, and execute daily meals typically a three course dinner/supper, all food is to be plated and served
  • Provide a variety of cuisines based on seasonal fresh ingredients focused on low/no carb but with lots of flavour (no stringent dietary restrictions or preferences required)
  • Create weekly menus and submit them for approval
  • Source the highest-quality, organic, and where possible locally sourced ingredients ensuring the best produce is purchased
  • Ensure pristine kitchen hygiene and organisation in accordance with health and safety standards
  • Handle all grocery shopping, inventory control, and stocking of fridges/freezers with drinks, healthy freezer meals that can be reheated easily (microwave) and snacks. Making of homemade ice-cream, granitas and sorbets is necessary
  • Prepare meals for dinner parties as requested
  • Breakfast and lunches will need to be provided on occasions
  • Collaborate with the Estate Manager and Housekeepers as required to ensure the smooth operation of the household to ensure seamless service and event planning
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion always

Back of House Operations:

  • The Residence is always presented and maintained in immaculate condition, and the kitchen is no exception and must be presented in pristine condition
  • Cleanliness during and after food preparation and service is essential. The kitchen must be left in pristine condition no matter what time service finishes
  • A strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards is essential and qualifications in this area would be an advantage to ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory legislation such as temperature control and preventing cross contamination
  • All kitchen equipment both light and heavy must be always kept clean and to the highest of standards with cupboards and drawers clean and tidy with containers clearly labelled and stock presented in a uniform fashion

Candidates must/have:

  • Be Michelin Star trained
  • Expert knowledge of global cuisine, staying updated on current food and dietary trends, and nutrition
  • An understanding of quality produce, always seeking to ensure the best products are always used

Hours
Main shift: 14:00–22:00, including preparing dinner, making teas/coffees, cleaning down, and locking up.

Early shift (mainly weekends): 06:30 – 14:30, including breakfast, shopping, preparing lunch, and leaving supper ready.

Extra hours may be required at weekends or for special occasions.

The role includes 2 days off per week, though this may vary based on the household’s needs. Days and hours will be agreed in advance.

£60,000 – £80,000, depending on experience.

Includes 28 days paid holiday including bank holidays, private medical insurance and work attire will be provided.
