We are searching for a skilled sole chef for our client's private/charter sailing yacht.

Candidate location: Ideally South Africa

Start date: September 2025

Itinerary: Cape Town / Caribbean / Mediterranean.

Catamaran Yacht Specs: 24m / 60 GT
Crew of 4
Guest accommodation for up to 10 guests in 4 suites

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create international, upscale dishes with high-quality presentation.
• Oversee all aspects of food organization, including menu planning and inventory management.
• Prepare a variety of meals, including desserts, bread, and creative, nutritious menus.
• Work independently as the sole cook onboard—no assistants.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in professional yachting or fine dining.
• Strong knowledge of food conservation and storage at sea.
• Must be skilled at vegetarian / pescatarian dishes.
• Fluent English communication skills, with additional languages a bonus.
• No visible tattoos
• Non-smoker, sober habits

Certificates and Qualifications:

STCW and ENG1 certifications (mandatory).

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on yachts matching the following requirements:

  • Yacht sizes:  < 24m, 30-39m, 40-49m or 50-69m
  • Yacht types:  sailing
  • Yacht uses:   private or charter
  • Experience length:  min 2 years

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications:

All applicants must hold a valid ENG1 certificate to be able to apply for this position.

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
