Head Housekeeper / Cook | Private Household | near Deal, Kent

Overview:

A family of six, with four grown-up children, seeks a Head Housekeeper/Cook to oversee the smooth day-to-day operation of their eight-bedroom residence located near Deal, Kent.

The family, known for their vibrant and welcoming nature, frequently entertains, making this an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head Housekeeper/Cook.

The role is supported by an existing full-time Housekeeper, who works 40-hours a week.

Job duties:

• Responsible for maintaining a tidy and organised household
• Overseeing day-to-day cleaning tasks to ensure the residence is consistently well-kept
• Collaborating with other staff, such as gardeners and farm hands, to synchronise tasks and ensure the overall upkeep of the property
• Providing guidance and direction to the second housekeeper
• Handling the cleaning, ironing, and proper storage of fine and delicate clothing items
• Flower arranging and maintenance of houseplants
• Managing the procurement of household supplies and necessities
• Conducting regular stocktaking and inventory management to ensure adequate supplies are maintained
• Preparing meals for the Principals during the weekdays, when they are the only family members in residence
• Planning and executing nutritious and substantial meals during university holidays when all family members, including three boys and a girl, return home
• Oversight of two dogs

Candidates must be/have:

• Experience in a similar Private Household role, or relevant experience working on yacht
• Impeccable time management
• A highly competent cook, with the ability to cater to specific dietary preferences and handle the preparation of meals for large groups
• Strong organisational and leadership skills
• Professional, presentable and with meticulous standards
• A UK Passport holder
• A valid UK Driver’s Licence
• Pet friendly

Accommodation
A three-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage located at the end of the driveway will be provided.

Monday – Friday (with flexibility by prior arrangement)
