House Manager/Cook (light, healthy meals), Toronto

Experienced House Manager/Cook for a semi-formal home of a single Principal in residence for about 5 months of the year in total. This is a hands-on role to ensure the smooth operation and running of the property. Ability to cook daily meals for the Principal as required - light, very healthy diet, so no complicated cooking.

Candidates should have at least 5 years’ experience in private residences or yachts, and a general understanding of household equipment, systems, home tech etc. You will be service and detail oriented, proactive, a forward planner and one who strives to anticipate the needs of the Principal. Good project and time management skills, ability to think on your feet, a problem solver who rises to challenges.

Professional candidates with a cheerful, kind, ‘can do’ personality are the best fit for this Principal. The ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times is vital.

Main Responsibilities:

• Full oversight of residence; maintain consistent high standard across all services and procedures
• Daily walk through ensuring the Principal’s aesthetic
• Manage housekeepers, organise quarterly deep cleans, any needed reorganization
• Manage on-site staff and vendors
• Manage operational budget and invoice reconciliation
• Prepare daily meals as needed when Principal is in residence
• Maintain inventories.
• Supervise renovation projects as needed
• Ad-hoc duties as required from time to time

Candidate Requirements:

• Good previous experience managing a residence. Yacht Interior Managers or Chief Stews welcome to apply.
• Excellent communicator and leader
• Polished, discrete and responsible. Proactive, energetic.
• Excellent spoken and written English
• Willing to roll up your sleeves and pitch in when needed.
• You take the ebbs and flows of heightened demand with a positive approach and are comfortable working through periods of significant activity when Principal is in residence.
• Valid driving license.

Salary CAD 90,000

Hours 5 day week M-F, generally 8.30 – 5.30 when Principal is not in residence. Longer hours and flexibility for evening or weekend working if required when Principal is in residence.

Short term accommodation may be able to be provided if you are relocating to Toronto.
