House Manager / Chef

Private Washington DC family seeks professional, dedicated, and creative House Manager / Chef to oversee all management and culinary needs of the family out of their primary residence. This is a five-day work schedule with flexibility and willingness to work additional days and weekends. Travel to the family’s Nantucket residence in the summer months is required. The ideal candidate will have a background in preparing healthy and seasonal meals as well as managing their home. This position requires to be a genuine team player in order to work collaboratively with existing staff members.

Must be legally able to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Liaison between vendors and contractors, and being the single point of contact within the home
• Creating menus with a strong emphasis on fresh, seasonal, and healthy cuisine on a weekly basis
• Overseeing all elements of hospitality, food and beverage service within the residence
• Responsible for errands, grocery shopping and supply procurement
• Organizing and managing staff to be uniform
• Ability to hire, train, fire, and manage all household staff
• Organizing and maintaining kitchen; ensuring pantry is stocked at all times; maintaining inventories
• Managing food production private events
• Ongoing sourcing of healthy food techniques, local farm to table purveyors
• Sanitizing and cleaning the kitchen after each session
• Additional general Private Chef / House Manager duties upon request; constant need for overriding flexibility and exceeding expectations
