This position is currently located in Miami Beach, moving to Fort Lauderdale in spring. We are offering a unique opportunity for a full-time First Mate/Engineer to oversee and manage charters on our 70’ yacht located in Fort Lauderdale/Miami Beach, FL. This position requires strong business skills to effectively document all operations and a diverse set of knowledge in general, preventative, and corrective maintenance.

Specifically, you are responsible for:

  • Manage day-to-day operations
  • Maintenance and repairs, including preventative, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual
  • Cleaning, including interior and exterior
  • Documentation, including reports, logs, safety, checklists and inventory
  • Contractor, Vendor and yard Work Management
  • Hire crew and manage
  • Charter Management, including marketing, relationship building, and revenue generation
  • Hurricane prep
  • Following procedures regarding budgeting, purchasing and financials

Requirements:

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a Mate/Engineer
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Dependable
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Knowledge of tide, wind, and wave conditions
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical maintenance
  • Experience with diesel and outboard engines
  • Must be in good standing with established safety record
  • Must be eligible for required insurance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Hands on problem solver
  • Must be flexible, able to respond quickly to various situations, and solve problems
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs. or more
  • Must have 100 ton or higher offshore master’s certificate
  • Certified in First Aid & CPR
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License
  • Non-smoker
