Head Chef – 60m Expedition/Scientific research Vessel- Perth Based

Are you a chef tired of working for the usual Superyacht owner?

Do you enjoy a role with variety and being a part of scientific/research missions?

A unique opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic chef keen to join a very professional team out of Perth.
The yacht will undertake a mixture of private owner trips and scientific research trips, where the yacht will be home to a team of scientists conducting research in the Indian Ocean.
Currently in Sorong, Indonesia undertaking a diving mission the yacht will soon return to Perth where it is primarily based.
The yacht will venture along the West Coast, including the remote Kimberley’s and has plans for an Antarctic voyage in the future.
The chef will roughly be looking to be out at sea around 6 months / year (not all at once) and 6 months based in Perth, offering a terrific life balance.
The yacht is not looking for an executive chef, as the chef will be largely cooking for crew and scientists around 70 % of the time.
A chef who has had Sous chef experience on 60m+ yachts or sole chef experience on smaller yachts will be most suitable
When the owners use the yacht, the chef should still be able to turn it on, producing quality fine dining foods from the freshest ingredients and produce.
The Head Chef will have a galley assistant for when the yacht is busy and the opportunity to call upon the owner’s residence chef for support / relief

The Ideal Candidate
• Culinary Trained
• STCW
• Chef experience on yachts either Sous or Sole
• Can cook your strengths and build your own menus
• Good provisioning and forward planning skills
• Easy going personality who believes in preserving and protecting the environment
• Diverse culinary repertoire
• Work rights for Australia / NZ
• Adaptive and creative

Start- Early January 2020, as soon as available

Leave- Around 6 weeks / year

Salary- To be advised, around the $100, 000 AUD / year Circa, DOE
