Chief Engineer- 35m MY Private/Charter- Port Douglas/Cairns based

Are you an experienced Y3 or Class 3 engineer looking to be based in far north Queensland?

Do you enjoy a yacht with a fishing, diving and water sports focus?

A reputable charter/private yacht that has a home base in Port Douglas / Cairns is after an enthusiastic Y3 or Class 3 engineer to join their program.

The current chief engineer (a top bloke) will be staying on with the yacht as captain so the new chief engineer will have a wealth of knowledge at their fingertips and will receive lots of support

The yacht operates mostly around the Cairns/Port Douglas regions, inner and outer reef with some trips away into the Pacific including the Solomon Islands and PNG

Joining a crew of 7, the Engineer will be responsible for Engine room maintenance.

Ability to diagnose issues, strong preventative maintenance skills, & good mechanical skills for remote locations.

The yacht is looking for enthusiastic and energetic applicants who have good qualifications and experience.

The position would suit engineers keen on diving or fishing or simply looking for a terrific yacht with a home base

Being a small yacht, the crew assist each other across departments and help each other out when required

The Ideal Candidate

• Y3 or MEC 3 (or higher)
• Some experience with MTU’s preferable
• STCW & Seafarer Medical
• Good technical aptitude
• Can maintain survey standards
• Accurate logs and records
• Good project management experience
• Easy going but professional
• Enthusiastic with good self-motivation
• Happy to assist cross departments
• Strong preventative maintenance ability
• Work rights for Australia/NZ
• Enjoys diving and fishing

Start Date: December 2018

Salary: Starting at $120,000 AUD / year + benefits
