Chief Engineer needed for 40M Explorer yacht

Start date: beginning of March

Package on offer: EUR salary and 44 days leave / year

Position to start in the Mediterranean - possibility for worldwide itinerary

Requirements: STCW Basic Safety, ENG1 Medical Certificate, Y3 or Y2 CoC, Security Awareness/Designated Security Duties

Strong organisational ability for maintenance planning, budgeting, and spares management

Proven experience running a small or single-handed engineering department

Competence in managing shipyard periods, refits, and warranty issues

Effective technical reporting and documentation, including defect logs and compliance records

Ability to liaise confidently with shipyards, surveyors, contractors, and management

Experience with remote cruising logistics, including redundancy planning and critical spares

Solutions-focused mindset, especially during technical failures

Clear, proactive communication with Captain and all departments

Strong preventative maintenance ethos

Independent decision-making ability with sound judgement under pressure

High standards of professionalism, discretion, and teamwork

Male candidates only due to cabin arrangements

Certificates and Qualifications:

All applicants must hold a valid ENG1 certificate to be able to apply for this position.

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
