Overview

We’re looking for a dynamic and professional Domestic Couple to join a beautiful 21-hectare private estate in rural County Wicklow - perfect for those who love animals, take pride in their work, and are confident managing a peaceful estate with minimal supervision.

This is a long-term role offering a lovely home, variety, and the chance to become part of a small, respectful household where privacy, quality, and discretion are key. The Principals travel regularly, and there are no children in residence - however, the couple's beloved animals (three horses and two dogs) are central to this role.

Job duties

Housekeeping / Household:

• Maintain the home and laundry to a high standard
• Daily and deep cleaning, care of finishes, and household organisation
• Meticulous laundry care, including ironing, linen changes, and towel folding
• Inventory management – keeping all household supplies well-stocked
• Occasional light cooking and grocery shopping
• Providing discreet, high-level service during guest visits, approx. 1–2 weekends/month
• Occasional driving such as running errands, airport runs

Animal care (training provided):

• Daily care of three horses, including feeding, grooming, mucking out, paddock maintenance
• Supporting the Principal’s holistic approach to training and equine wellness (training will be provided)
• Care of two dogs, including walks, feeding, and occasional overnight support
• Working collaboratively with a part-time weekend animal carer

Grounds / Estate Maintenance:

• Daily upkeep of gardens and grounds: sweeping leaves, mowing, hedge trimming, weeding, strimming, and general tidiness
• Firewood management and basic property maintenance
• General maintenance of paddocks, fencing, buildings, and water systems
• Monitoring and basic upkeep of estate vehicles and machinery
• Liaison with contractors (larger jobs such as hedging and fencing) and a weekly visiting gardener
• Pride in standards and a proactive approach to maintenance

Candidates must be/have:

• Strong private household experience as a Domestic Couple
• The right to work in Ireland (EEA, Swiss, or UK citizens, or valid employment permit holders)
• A driver’s licence (both candidates preferred) – as the estate is in a remote location
• Genuine love of animals and willingness to train in holistic equine care
• High standards of cleanliness, attention to detail, and self-management
• Strong sense of discretion, ability to ‘read the room’, and respect for privacy
• Fluent spoken English
• Practical, hands-on individuals with a can-do attitude
• Comfortable living and working in a quiet, rural environment

Accommodation

A lovely, renovated three-bedroom cottage at the end of the drive.

Dependants – older children are welcome, but the role and commute are not suitable for those with primary-school-aged children.

Hours

Full-time hours, five days per week (flexible schedule based on guest visits and needs of the estate).

Weekend work required when guests are staying, approximately 1–2 weekends per month.

Time off provided during the week in exchange for weekend work.

Salary

€80,000 (combined), plus discretionary yearly bonus.
