Job Summary:
Experienced ISM / ISPS Manager required to oversee, manage and maintain the International Safety Management (ISM) and International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Codes. The role requires expertise in maritime safety, security compliance, and risk management, ensuring that all yachts operate in accordance with international regulations and flag state requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee, maintain, and strive for continuous improvement of the company Safety Management System (SMS) and Ship Security Plans (SSP) for managed yachts.
- Ensure compliance with ISM, ISPS, MLC, MARPOL, SOLAS, and other relevant international regulations.
- Act as the deputy Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and deputy Company Security Officer (CSO), providing direct support to yacht captains and crew on safety and security matters.
- Hold responsibility for all managed yachts which comply with min-ISM requirements. (<500GT).
- Conduct internal audits and inspections to assess compliance with safety and security protocols, reporting findings and implementing corrective actions.
- Coordinate with flag states, classification societies, and regulatory authorities for certification, surveys, inspections, and audits.
- Develop and deliver safety and security training for crew members, ensuring awareness of emergency response procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and non-conformities, ensuring proper reporting and root cause analysis.
- Assist with crew management responsibilities, including verification and monitoring of crew certification and applications for crew related flag State documentation.
- Maintain and update documentation, including risk assessments, security assessments, emergency response plans, and training records.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in maritime compliance, safety management, and security operations, ideally within yacht management.
- Seagoing experience as a Captain, Chief Officer, or Chief Engineer (advantageous but not required).
- Experience as a deputy DPA, CSO or Compliance Manager in the yacht or maritime industry.
- Certified Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and Company Security Officer (CSO).
- Certified ISM Lead Auditor.
- In-depth knowledge of ISM Code, ISPS Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC, and other maritime codes and conventions.
- Strong background in auditing, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
- Experience liaising with flag States, classification societies, and port authorities.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ISM yacht management software platforms.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple yachts in a fast-paced environment.
- Multilingual skills (advantageous but not required).
