Overview

Our client’s estate, renowned for its exceptional grouse moors, is seeking a seasoned and detail-oriented Live-in House Manager/Butler to oversee the upcoming grouse season from Thursday 1st August to Thursday 31st October. This role involves managing both family and let shoot days for up to 22 guests.

Job duties

Responsibilities of the House Manager/Butler near Hexham include:

• Managing the day-to-day operations, ensuring that all aspects of the estate run smoothly and efficiently
• Providing 5-star service to all guests, including heads of state and royalty, ensuring their needs are met from arrival to departure
• Overseeing kitchen staff (up to 3 chefs), housekeeping, valets, and other staff, ensuring high standards are maintained
• Plan and execute events, including floristry, menu planning with chefs, housekeeping, and turndown services
• Be on hand to respond to any queries or needs that guests may have, ensuring their satisfaction and comfort
• Work up to 7 days a week during the initial weeks, with the opportunity to take rest days when there are no shoots

Candidates must be/have:

• Proven experience as a House Manager, Butler or General Manager in high-pressure, luxury environments
• Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain the highest standards of service and discretion

Accommodation

Separate accommodation will be provided.

Contract length

Thursday 1st August – Thursday 31st October.

Location

Approximately 20 miles south of Hexham, Northumberland.

Salary

£250 – 300 per day, with very good tips.

Provided in either a shared staff house or a 2-bedroom flat on the estate.
