Chief Officer - Expedition Vessel

Job Description
• Stand navigational watches as directed by the Master
• Head of deck department
• Function as the Ship Security Officer (SSO)
• Make sure the deck is well maintained and all job orders are carried out according to the PMS
• Work closely with expedition team, engineers and clients to make sure all expedi- tion operations are carried out in a safe manner
• Execute and complete various tasks related to operation of the vessel, included its tenders and other systems onboard
• Systematically report results, vessel performance and other important infor- mation via our ISM-system (CCOM).
• Assist the project team and Master in the final mobilising phase of the vessel

Required Qualifications
• Minimum D2 certificate (C/O unlimited)
• Experience in position or highly experienced 1st Officer
• Ship Security Officer certification
• GMDSS GOC
• CoP Polar Code Advanced
• Pilot Exemption for Norwegian Coast and Svalbard is advantageous
• STCW Crisis Management and Human Behaviour
• A clean criminal record

Practical information
MV Nansen Explorer operates between the polar regions, with the summer season spent in the Arctic, and the winter season spent in the Antarctic.
