An exciting and varied career opportunity has become available at Mark Berryman Design. We are searching for an exceptional, highly organised individual to take on the integral role of Studio Manager. This is a varied position where you will be coordinating the day-to-day running of a busy design studio, involved in both the administration and design aspects of the business. You will oversee the design team, manage workflow, and be involved with procurement. You will be based in our Lymington studio in the heart of the New Forest. The Role:

  • Responsible for the daily operations of the design team
  • Manage project workflow by maintaining existing filing systems and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Create and implement weekly deadlines, projects goals, expectations, and workflows to ensure a smooth production process with on-time delivery
  • involvement with the procurement stage of projects, along with the FF&E team
  • Assisting on the creative production side when needed
  • Booking UK and overseas travel/accommodation for Designers
  • Conduct internal meetings, manage diaries, and book appointments for fabric reps
  • Ensure the office is always running smoothly and maintained to a high standard
  • Be involved in shipping, knowledge of incoterms required.
  • Occasional travel may be required (taking minutes and supporting the Design Team in meetings)
  • Liaise with shipyards, clients, and suppliers in a polite and efficient manner
  • Manage marketing opportunities and company social media effectively

The successful person will have the following skills:

  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Experience of working within a design studio or marine industry essential
  • Leadership and motivational skills. Persistence, and determination
  • As studio manager, this role should carefully look at how much time is being spent on certain tasks to examine where workflow processes could be improved.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in the English language
  • Flexible, self-motivated and a good team spirit
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Excel.
  • Photoshop or InDesign experience required. AutoCAD also very desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to source furniture and fabrics for interior schemes useful
  • A good sense of humour very helpful at times!

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on cruise ships or yachts matching the following requirements:

  • Experience length:  min 2 years

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Visa Requirements:

B1/B2 and Schengen visas are required for this role. US and Canadian citizens do not require the B1/B2 visa.
