Salary: $25.00 per hour approximately, 40 Hours per week.
Job Description
- Cut, shape and join timber pieces or assemble pre-cut timber pieces to make wooden boats
- Assemble prefabricated parts and sections of fiberglass, metal or other materials to form boats
- Caulk decks and hulls
- Install trims, rudders, seats, engine mounts and other accessories
- Repair boats
- Inspect assembled boats for defects and conformance to quality standards
- Mark defects to be repaired
- Make minor adjustments and repairs
- Record information on products inspected
- Repair and modification of composite boats of all sizes using glass fiber, and polyethylene-based products such as polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resin systems
- Perform repairs that are vacuum-bagged and cured with heat control
- Understand and perform gel coat color matching and restoration
Requirements
- Education: Not required.
- Experience: 1 - 3 years of experience in the field is required.
- Knowledge required: Knowledge of the essential materials and processes involved in the repair and modification of composite boats of all sizes utilizing glass fiber, and polyethylene-based products such as; Polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy resin systems. Skilled in cutting, grinding, sanding, laminating, and post-cure methods on composite (fiberglass) boats. Be able to perform repairs that are vacuum bagged and cured with heat control. Understand and perform Gelcoat colour matching and restoration.
- Boating experience: Motorboats, Sailboats
- Knowledge in cutting, grinding, sanding, laminating, and post-cure methods on composite (fiberglass) boats is an asset.
- Woodworking, welding and overall marina knowledge are a strong asset.
- Work conditions and physical capabilities: Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Bending, crouching, kneeling.
