Primary Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

  • Efficiently managing all operational supervisors and marina administration staff, organising shifts, allocating tasks, supervising work and security
  • Ensuring that all routines, systems, and check-lists are properly maintained and/or executed
  • Complying with the company procedures, policies, regulations, manuals, guidelines and with generally recognised good working practices and seeing that others do so
  • Maximising marina occupancy and revenue through effective allocation of berths and storage areas
  • Overseeing the Berthing Applications, Berthing Agreements, Marina Terms and Conditions and Marina Rules etc. and generally administering customer records and documentation
  • Planning, implementation and budgeting of the Marina Maintenance Program to ensure the highest standards of routine, planned and unplanned maintenance are performed on time and in budget
  • Ensuring marina cleanliness, hygiene and that the pontoons, equipment and outdoor facilities are clean, safe and well maintained
  • Ensuring that customer contact points are properly equipped and stocked, and that customers' enquiries and needs are at all times attended to promptly, politely and comprehensively
  • Ensuring that all staff comply with company regulations regarding dress, presentation and expected modes of behaviour, and offering a personal and personable service to customers in order to enhance the reputation of the marina
  • Not entering into any contract, agreement or commitment on behalf of the company, nor ordering any goods and services on behalf of the company, unless with the prior written approval of the Marina Manager
  • Familiarising themself with the duties of the Marina Manager in order that, if required to act as the Marina Manager's alternate
  • Complying with instructions or duties as may be reasonably assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manages subordinate supervisory and non-supervisory employees at a designated facility
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities within the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities include - interviewing, recommending candidates, training employees; planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems of a minor nature -for all subordinate employees

Required Qualifications and Qualities

Such qualifications and qualities include:

  • Competence in general management and modern office procedures including computer skills in word-processing, excel-spread sheet, emailing and the willingness to be trained in marina management systems
  • Familiarity with basic accounting, book-keeping, and cash handling procedures; ability to prepare budgets and to monitor these through account management
  • A broad knowledge of marina operations, boat lifting, boat handling and towing, plant and equipment maintenance
  • Proven skills or the willingness to be trained in administration, seamanship, communication, health and safety, plant and equipment maintenance and marina operations
  • Familiarity with common marina operational documentation (e.g. agreements, contracts, terms and conditions, marina rules and regulations etc.) and the ability to analyse them
  • A positive attitude combined with the ability to communicate fluently and relate well to customers in the leisure environment and the ability to manage and motivate staff
  • Commercial awareness and an eye for detail in all aspects of work
  • High standards of presentation and accuracy in written work
  • Proficient swimmer
  • Full driving licence

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma; or
  • One to three years related experience and/or training; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Language Ability

  • Level of English that allows fluent communication with customers, guests and employees
  • The ability to speak Arabic is desirable although not essential
