Personal Chef

You are adaptable and thrive in being resourceful in new situations. We are looking for an experienced Personal Chef to prepare and serve meals for a private family in Campbell River, BC.

The Personal Chef is responsible for creating healthy meals for the family and traveling with them throughout the year The ideal candidate is a self-starter with exceptional communication and problem-solving skills. Travel is an important part of this position and involves significant travel each year within BC, to Mexico and on a private yacht. Travel includes working over most of the major holidays and the incumbent must be able to work over these holidays. Standard workdays would be Thursday through Monday - days and hours will be different when travelling and the successful candidate must be prepared to work longer hours/days.

Responsibilities

• Meal planning, shopping, sourcing of ingredients, preparation and clean-up
• Food/wine inventory and control
• Make sure there are always healthy snacks available
• Keep freezer stocked with meals for days off
• Organize and manage the kitchen area. This includes all clean up after cooking and daily/weekly kitchen sanitation. Review foods for expiration dates and remove as necessary.
• Develop and modify menus or create new ones that meet quality standards

Preferred applicants should have:

• Significant cooking experience in a fine dining establishment or in private homes
• A focus on the health and wellness of the family.
• Expert knowledge of formal table service and wine paring
• Comfort with cooking for guests with dietary restrictions
• Resourceful outlook to food sourcing, preparation, and presentation
• Positive, friendly attitude, trustworthy, reliable
• Extensive cocktail experience
