The Company – Conquistador Sailing Ltd

Conquistador Sailing Ltd owns S/Y Umiko, a beautifully presented 80ft Swan with flush deck and 4 guest cabins. The yacht is available for both cruising and racing charter in the Caribbean and Mediterranean and has a busy schedule throughout the year. The yacht is based in Antigua during the winter months and Palma during the summer months with 3 permanent crew members.

The Role

You will be responsible for the planning and coordination of overseas trips and events, ensuring that itineraries run smoothly.

You will be the first point of contact for the yacht – planning out the annual activity as well as monitoring the budget. Although the role is shore based you will be required to attend racing charters to ensure smooth delivery of logistics with up to 20 crew members present during Regatta’s.

Chalet Lys is located in the French Alps, with 5 en-suite bedrooms and walking distance to the slopes. Travel arrangements for each ski trip will include flights, transfers, food shopping, restaurant booking and ski passes. The role will also include maintenance management of the chalet and liaising with cleaners on when the chalet is in use.

Other overseas events may include planning cycling trips within the UK and Europe (only 1 per year maximum) and various business travel within Europe and America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage and attend Regatta events (approx. 5 per year – Caribbean and Med)
  • Act as the first point of contact for the yacht; liaising with captain; charter management; maintenance; budget; insurance etc.
  • Plan, manage and attend ski trips (approx. 5 per year – French Alps)
  • Book and arrange itinerary, travel and accommodation for all overseas trips / events
  • Organise dinners / catering / food shop for all overseas trips / events
  • Organise events and conferences
  • Liaise with staff, suppliers and clients
  • Implement and maintain procedures and administrative systems

Skills and Experience Required

  • Educated to degree level
  • Previous experience of working as a PA/Senior Administrator
  • Yachting or maritime experience / knowledge of industry would be advantageous, but not essential
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Availability to travel overseas and accompany yacht owner and crew on Regattas and ski trips
  • Flexible, ‘can-do’ approach and an ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • A positive, cheerful attitude with a willingness to ‘pitch in’
  • Proactive, with high levels of resourcefulness and the ability to solve problems using own initiative
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent Project Management, Planning and Organisation skills

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
