Live In Front of House / Housekeeper for beautiful Devon Home - Own Flat

Family Description and Location

This is a fabulous job!! The role will be for a Housekeeper who is also happy to be ‘front of house’ when the family are entertaining or having shoots etc. You would be working for a European family and the house is used by a couple who have two children, and also their parents. This is a country residence for all of the family. There are also friendly dogs kept at the house. This is a country house situated not far from Exeter and reasonably close to the sea. You will need to be a driver for this role.

Job Description

Because this is a country residence and no one is in residence full time the house can sometimes be very busy and full of people, and sometimes it can be empty and things are quiet. The family do also host shoots during the season and this will be a busy time. There are other people working at the house including a part time cleaner and a Chef who is also the general House Manager. Your role will be varied and will include general housework and cleaning, helping to make up guest rooms, setting the table at meal times and serving, household shopping, making sure the house is presented beautifully and putting flowers in the reception rooms, greeting guests, helping with the shoots which will include serving lunch and refreshments, occasional childcare, shoe polishing, dog walking and anything else that comes up to make the Principals and their guests stay run smoothly. There is no real cooking with this job but you may be asked to make a simple meal if the Chef is not working. This is a job for someone who understands and loves a country way of life.

Candidate Requirements

It is essential that you have worked on a yacht or as a Chalet Host. You will need to speak good English, understand how to set a beautiful table and serve, and have a good knowledge of how a high level home should run.

Days of Work, Salary and Accommodation

This is a live in role and as the property is used as a weekend home you will be working 5 days a week with two days off during the week. Your accommodation is your own two bedroom flat (sorry no children or partners) which has its own front door. Salary will depend on experience but will be in the region of £22,000 to £25,000 per annum
