Watersports Instructor

Alpine/Ocean Elements Ltd is a medium sized tour operator specialising in ski and summer beach & alpine activity holidays operating throughout France, Greece and Austria, our sister company iGO SKi offer a flexible package to customers with short ski breaks. We employ up to 400 overseas seasonal staff, in addition to a permanent head office team working all year round to deliver the best product for our clients and support for our employees.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Beach Senior and/or chief instructor you will assist with the overall smooth running of the waterfront within resort. As a Watersports Instructor you will be leading and assisting RYA sessions for adults and children alike. You will provide practical and theory based tuition that adheres to RYA criteria, ensuring that safety measures are in place and are followed at all times. You will be on hand to offer your guidance and expertise to guests who wish to free sail. The role enables you to deliver outstanding customer service through a close relationship with small groups of customers within coaching sessions and all our guests in resort.

What you will be doing:

Customer Focus

• Interacting with all guests in a professional yet relaxed fashion at all times
• Attending evening social events e.g. Charity fundraisers, Welcome Meal and Send-off BBQ

Operational

• Opening and securing all beach equipment, including lifting and moving equipment and security cages
• Preparing equipment for tuition and free-sailing, including lifting and moving equipment ready for launching
• Routine maintenance checks on all equipment and completion of maintenance records
• Teaching groups of adults new skills in line with the governing body syllabus
• Being responsible for all safety aspects of your session whilst you are afloat, including considerations for ability, weather conditions and suitable craft to use
• Providing safety cover for all aspects of our waterfront operation spending time on safety boats and in the safety tower
• Carrying out stock takes and other essential paperwork
• Carrying out first aid and complete accident forms as necessary
• Assisting other departments as per operational needs

Sales

• Upselling all RYA courses to customers not already booked to attend one
• Providing private watersports tuition if requested
• Promoting other in-resort sales (RYA Literature, tuition, merchandise)
• Promoting Youth Squad to all children of the correct age group

To come join us in Greece this summer you must be 18 or over before the season commences.

To qualify as a UK posted worker we require proof of the following –

Qualifications

It is essential that you have the following qualifications:

• First Aid (valid for a minimum of 6 months from posting date)
• RYA Dinghy Instructor AND/OR RYA Start Windsurf Instructor
• RYA Powerboat Level 2

It is highly desirable that you possess one or more of the following qualifications:

• Safety Boat Certificate
• RYA Windsurfing Scheme Intermediate Non-Planing
• RYA Sailing Scheme Advanced Modules
• RYA Intermediate Windsurfing Non-Planing Instructor
• RYA Intermediate Windsurfing Planing Instructor
• RYA Racing Coach Level 2
• RYA Multihull Endorsement
• RYA Powerboat Instructor
• RYA Advanced Dinghy Instructor
• RYA Advanced Windsurf Instructor
• RYA Senior Instructor (in either discipline)
• BCU Kayak Instructor
• SUP Instructor

Experience

• Relevant / Transferable Work Experience (E)
• Secure Cash Handling Experience (E)
• Seasonal overseas experience gained within Beach or Ski Tour Operator (HD)
