Live Out Chef or Cook + Head of Service - 5 day week - 5 day week - Would you like to live in London?

Family Description and Location

This is a fabulous role for someone who enjoys running their own kitchen. The job is to work for a British family with a beautiful home in the St Johns Wood area of London where you will be based. They have one older child living with them, and others who visit from time to time. The family also have homes in Brighton and Oxfordshire. Their homes are all fully staffed.

Job Description

Your role will cover the whole spectrum of cooking and service. The family like simple healthy food, sometimes served plated and sometimes served more formally. Your job will cover preparing menus, food shopping, food preparation and cooking lunch and supper for the family and ,as usually only three or four people eat in the evening, you will also be serving the food. There is an evening housekeeper to help clear away etc. You will also be keeping the kitchen clean to a high standard. During the day you may also be asked to prepare tea trays for the family and their guests. If the family are having a small dinner party you will be asked to cook for this too, but if they are entertaining larger numbers you will be involved in the organisation of events but they will call a catering company in to cook.

Candidate Requirements

This job is for someone who is a good cook and is also knowledgeable about food service and happy to serve dinner. This is not a job for a Private Chef who wants to cook restaurant standard food as this is not the way the family likes to eat. You will need to have at least three years experience of working as a cook or chef in a private household (sorry no restaurant chefs)know how to plate and be happy to serve food, and be able to run your own kitchen. You must be happy to work as part of the household team.

Working Days and Salary

This is a live out job and you will only be asked to work five days a week, usually starting at 11am and working through to 9pm with a break during the day. Two weeks of a month your working days will be Sunday to Thursday with Friday and Saturday off. The other two weeks of the month you will be asked to work in either their Brighton or Oxfordshire home on Saturday and Sunday and have two days off during the week. When you are working outside of London accommodation will be provided and your travelling costs will also be paid for. Salary will be in the region of £45,000 per annum, possibly more for a superstar!
