Magnitude Recruitment is seeking an experienced Bosun / OOW to join a 65m+ sail yacht with an immediate start.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on deck professional looking to develop their skills and progress towards a Chief Officer position.

The yacht will be in a shipyard in Spain throughout October and most of November before heading to the Caribbean for the winter season, returning to the Mediterranean for Summer 2027.

The Role

This is a hybrid Bosun / OOW position, combining watchkeeping responsibilities with a predominantly hands-on deck role. Working closely with the Chief Officer and two Deckhands within a small, active team, the successful candidate will play an integral role in maintaining the yacht to an exceptionally high standard.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Chief Officer with daily deck operations and maintenance.
  • Carrying out extensive exterior maintenance, including detailed chamois work.
  • Operating and driving the yacht’s large limousine tender.
  • Assisting with navigation and watchkeeping duties as required.
  • Maintaining the yacht’s exterior to an exceptional standard.
  • Supporting tender operations, water sports and guest activities as required.
  • Taking on additional responsibility and covering the Chief Officer’s duties during leave periods, where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Valid OOW certificate is essential for watchkeeping and manning requirements.
  • Previous experience in a Bosun or senior Deckhand position is preferred.
  • Strong tender-driving skills, with experience operating larger tenders.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high standards of exterior maintenance.
  • A proactive, hardworking and hands-on approach.
  • Ability to work effectively within a small, close-knit deck team.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibility and develop towards a Chief Officer position.

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on yachts matching the following requirements:

  • Yacht sizes:  50-69m or > 70m
  • Yacht types:  motor or sailing
  • Yacht uses:   private or charter
  • Experience length:  min 2 years

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications:

All applicants must hold a valid ENG1 certificate to be able to apply for this position.

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.

Visa Requirements:

B1/B2 visa is required for this role. US and Canadian citizens do not require the B1/B2 visa.
