Chief Officer

Magnitude Recruitment is seeking an experienced and motivated Chief Officer to join a 45m private motor yacht currently located in Florida.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional and well-organised officer with strong leadership skills, a solid technical understanding and a proven track record of career longevity within the yachting industry.

• Salary: Paid in USD, dependent on experience
• Leave: 90 days per year
• Start Date: 1st November

Requirements

• Valid B1/B2 visa is essential.
• Minimum 500GT or 3,000GT CoC required.
• Proven experience in a Chief Officer or relevant senior deck position on motor yachts.
• Strong career longevity and a stable employment history within the yachting industry.
• Excellent leadership, team management and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of navigation, passage planning and bridge operations.
• Experience overseeing deck operations, planned maintenance and exterior upkeep.
• Good understanding of safety management systems, drills and emergency procedures.
• Experience with tenders, water toys and guest operations.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work proactively within a professional crew.
• Valid STCW certification and ENG1 medical.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the daily operations of the deck department.
• Managing and supporting the deck team, ensuring high standards of performance and professionalism.
• Assisting the Captain with navigation, passage planning and safe vessel operations.
• Maintaining the yacht’s exterior, tenders and equipment to an exceptional standard.
• Ensuring safety procedures, drills and regulatory requirements are followed.
• Coordinating maintenance schedules and supervising deck projects.
• Supporting guest activities and ensuring a seamless private yacht experience.
