A unique opportunity has become available for an Australian or New Zealand Deck/Mate to join a prestigious 24m expedition yacht operated by an experienced crew of four. Working under the guidance of a highly experienced Australian Captain and for a terrific Australian family, the successful candidate will take responsibility for a broad range of deck operations, including deck maintenance, tender driving, bridge watches and general vessel operations. This is a role with genuine career progression, with the successful candidate expected to gradually take on increased responsibility and eventually provide relief Captain duties when the Captain is on leave. The vessel is commercially registered and available for charter, although the majority of its time is spent cruising privately with the family. While applications are welcomed from candidates worldwide, the owners would particularly like to find an Australian or New Zealand passport holder who is interested in establishing themselves in Europe for the long term. Based in the breathtaking medieval city of Dubrovnik, Croatia, this is an excellent opportunity to experience life in Europe while developing your skills aboard a unique expedition yacht.

The Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
• STCW
• Previous yacht experience
• Strong practical deck skills
• Tender driving experience
• A highly professional attitude and approach
• The ability to take direction and work closely with the Captain
• A genuine desire to learn and develop
• The ambition to take on greater vessel responsibilities over time

This position would suit a Deckhand / Junior Mate who is keen to be mentored by an experienced Captain and progress into a more senior operational role. Australian or New Zealand passport holders are particularly encouraged to apply.
