Summary

1st Officer position - 50m - Motor yacht

Description

We are seeking an experienced First Officer who is motivated to perform as a high-level First Officer for a busy 50m charter yacht.

The ideal candidate will be a confident tender driver with strong navigational, deck-management and guest-service skills. You will work closely with the Captain to support the yacht's safe, efficient daily operation, lead the deck team, maintain high presentation standards, and deliver an exceptional charter experience.

Attitude is everything. We want to hire a First Officer who takes the role seriously while helping to create a harmonious crew atmosphere. Our yacht has always had a family culture and we strive to keep it this way.

Requirements:

  • MCA OOW <3000gt (minimum)
  • Proven First Officer on 40-50m yachts or strong 2nd officer experience on larger yachts
  • Must have proven bridge experience as you will be relied on heavily to stand navigational watches
  • Excellent tender-driving and water sports experience (a true waterman is preferred)
  • Strong organisational, leadership and maintenance skills
  • Professional, positive and team-oriented attitude
  • Charter experience preferred
  • Valid STCW, ENG1 and relevant visas

Package:

  • Salary DOE UDS ($7,000 Max)
  • 38 days leave
  • Approved MLC SEA
  • Full medical insurance
  • Gratuity is split evenly between all crew members

The ideal candidate should be motivated to make the deck their own and assist the Captain in maintaining bridge procedures and records. We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference to the yacht and put their own stamp on things. The Captain has strong organisational skills, yacht and crew certificates along with safety systems are already in place, someone who wants to take on and improve these systems is preferred.

As this is a busy charter vessel, the right candidate will be hands-on and enjoy working on deck. The honest deck/bridge split is 70% deck and 30% bridge.

Please only apply if you are happy with this split and enjoy working on deck. The Captain is willing to teach and mentor the right candidate, offering drive time to someone who shows promise.

Cruising grounds include a busy yard period in Washington State, followed by a Christmas owners' trip in the Sea of Cortez.

Future cruising plans involve Costa Rica/Panama for winter and Alaska for summer 2027.

Certificates and Qualifications:

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
