We are seeking an experienced and motivated First Officer to join a busy 50m charter motor yacht with an exciting off the beaten track cruising program through Central America and Alaska.

This is a hands-on position with an honest 70% Deck / 30% Bridge split, suited to someone who enjoys working on deck while also having strong navigational and organisational skills.

The First Officer will work closely with the Captain to support the safe and efficient operation of the yacht, lead the Deck team, maintain high presentation standards and contribute to an exceptional charter experience. The right candidate will be motivated to take ownership of the Deck department, improve existing systems and make a positive difference onboard.

The role:

  • Hands-on First Officer position with a 70% Deck / 30% Bridge split
  • Leading and supporting the Deck team across day-to-day operations, maintenance and charter activities
  • Standing navigational watches and assisting the Captain with bridge procedures and records
  • Taking ownership of the Deck department and helping to improve existing systems
  • Strong focus on tender driving and watersports during owner and charter trips
  • Captain is willing to mentor the right candidate and offer drive time to someone who shows promise
  • Start date: 1st October
  • Busy yard period in the States followed by a Christmas owners' trip
  • Future cruising plans include Costa Rica/Panama for winter and Alaska for summer 2027

What we're looking for:

  • OOW 3000GT (minimum)
  • Proven First Officer experience on 40–50m yachts, or strong Second Officer experience on larger yachts
  • Proven bridge experience and confidence standing navigational watches
  • Excellent tender-driving and watersports experience; a true waterman is preferred
  • Strong organisational, leadership and maintenance skills
  • Charter experience preferred
  • Hands-on approach with a genuine enjoyment of working on deck
  • Motivated to take ownership, improve systems and make a difference onboard
  • Professional, positive and team-oriented attitude
  • Someone who values a harmonious, family-style crew environment
  • B1/B2 visa

What's on offer:

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Yacht.

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications:

All applicants must hold a valid ENG1 certificate to be able to apply for this position.

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
