2ND ENGINEER / DECK / FISHING (w/rotation)

M/Y EMILIA — 112’ Westport | Private Yacht

M/Y EMILIA, a privately operated 112’ Westport, is seeking a 2nd Engineer / Deck / Fishing crew member for a long-term position.

This is an intentionally hybrid position for someone who enjoys variety and wants to be involved in multiple aspects of yacht operations.

THE ROLE

The position combines three areas of responsibility:

ENGINEERING

Work alongside and support the vessel’s Engineer with routine machinery checks, preventative maintenance, basic mechanical and electrical work, generators, pumps, plumbing and general vessel systems.

The candidate does not need to be a Chief Engineer-level technician, but must have a solid understanding of basic marine machinery, be mechanically inclined, willing to learn, and capable of providing basic engineering coverage when required.

DECK

When engineering responsibilities permit, assist the First Mate with deck operations and exterior maintenance.

EMILIA operates with a 33’ Grady-White fishing boat, STELLA MARIS, so the deck team is responsible for maintaining two vessels.

Duties include washdowns, detailing, lines and fenders, docking, anchoring, general exterior maintenance and assisting with STELLA MARIS.

FISHING

Fishing is an important part of our program.

The Owner fishes frequently, and this position will regularly join the First Mate aboard STELLA MARIS for fishing trips.

Experience with offshore fishing, tackle, rigging, trolling, jigging and general fishing-boat operations is highly desirable.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

This position is best suited to someone who is:

* Mechanically inclined with basic marine engineering knowledge
* Comfortable working both in the engine room and on deck
* Interested in offshore fishing
* Hands-on and willing to work
* Organized and proactive
* A team player without a “that’s not my job” mentality
* Interested in learning and developing stronger engineering skills
* Looking for a stable, long-term position

We are not looking for someone who wants to spend 100% of their time in the engine room.

Likewise, this is not simply a deckhand position. The successful candidate will have genuine engineering responsibilities and will be expected to develop their technical knowledge over time.

ROTATION

This position receives 20 consecutive days off every third month, for a total of 80 days off per year.

The rotation is scheduled four times annually, providing predictable and meaningful time away from the vessel while maintaining continuity with a single primary engineer responsible for EMILIA’s machinery and technical systems.

THE VESSEL

EMILIA has recently completed an extensive mechanical and systems refit, including:

* New twin Caterpillar C32A 1,850 HP main engines
* New Northern Lights 65 kW generators
* New shafts, couplings and bearings
* Extensive engine-room and mechanical upgrades
* Modern navigation, AV and vessel network systems

Vessel: 112’ Westport
Program: Private
Cruising Area: West Coast - Alaska to Costa Rica
Position: 2nd Engineer / Deck / Fishing
Rotation: 20 consecutive days off every third month / 80 days annually
Start: To be discussed

This is a unique position for someone who enjoys engineering, boats and fishing and doesn’t want to be limited to one department.

I especially like the line “We are not looking for someone who wants to spend 100% of their time in the engine room.” It filters out the wrong candidate immediately while making the position attractive to the type of versatile person you actually want.
