Household Assistant - Northern Ireland

We are working exclusively with a private family in Cookstown, rural Northern Ireland to help them appoint an experienced Household Assistant. Our clients are a busy, self-sufficient household who run several businesses and they are looking for a capable, hands-on individual to take full ownership of the day-to-day running of their home, working confidently on their own initiative and representing the family professionally at all times.

The property is a substantial 6,000 sq ft family home set in rural Northern Ireland, around an hour’s drive from both Belfast and Derry, with a local shop 2 miles away and a town approximately 20 minutes’ drive. The family have three children (aged 22, 17 and 12) and an array of animals from ducks to highland cows. The grounds include a swimming pool and BBQ hut, along with a guest suite in a separate wing of the house that is let out via Airbnb.

This is a live-out position, though accommodation and a car can be provided if required.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day running of the household, working confidently on one’s own initiative
• Manage and coordinate the part-time cleaner, ensuring all tasks are ticked off to standard
• Maintain floors and countertops to a high standard on a daily basis
• Plan and manage family meals, keeping on top of budgeting and shopping using the family calendar
• Help in the preparation of dinner for the family when required
• Run errands, including school and activity drop-offs and pick-ups
• Undertake weekly shopping and general household provisioning
• Support with management of the Airbnb guest suite, including changeovers and laundry
• Provide PA support across the family’s properties and businesses as required
• Assist with setting up for and hosting when the family entertains, including planning and execution
• Help care for the family’s animals as needed
• Represent the family professionally with guests, contractors, and visitors

Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience in a similar all-round household management or hospitality role
• Comfortable and experienced working in a rural, countryside setting
• Confident using own initiative and managing a household independently
• Experience with Airbnb or guest suite management an advantage
• Happy to be hands-on, including daily cleaning duties such as floors and countertops
• Comfortable around animals, including livestock
• Strong organisational and budgeting skills
• Full, clean driving license and access to own transport
• Discreet, professional, and personable manner
• Flexible and adaptable to the needs of a busy family

Package

• Live-out role: accommodation can be provided if required
• Use of a car can be provided if required
• Holiday allowance: 25 days plus bank holidays
• Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
