Travelling Housekeeper - Belgium / Florida

We are working with a private family to hire an exceptional Travelling Housekeeper for a full-time, long-term position. The household consists of two Principals, three grown-up children, and two dogs.

This is a high-level role within a private residence, requiring a professional who can ensure both the impeccable upkeep of the home and the daily comfort and experience of the family and their guests, in line with five-star hospitality and private estate standards.

This is a position suited to a candidate who is comfortable travelling internationally for extended stays (3-4 months per location) between Puurs, Belgium and Wellington, Florida, USA.

Responsibilities:
General Cleaning and Maintenance

• Perform daily routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and dusting to maintain a clean and orderly home environment (Daily).
• Conduct deep cleaning activities such as moving furniture and cleaning hard-to-reach areas to ensure thorough hygiene standards (Monthly).
• Clean windows and glass surfaces to maintain cleanliness and presentation (Quarterly).
• Ensure proper waste disposal and recycling management (Daily).

Detailed Cleaning by Area

• Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including toilets, showers, and sinks, ensuring high standards of hygiene (Daily).
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness throughout the day, including surfaces and work areas (2–3 times per day).
• Clean kitchen appliances such as refrigerators, ovens, and microwaves (Weekly).

Kitchen Support and Food Service

• Provide support in the kitchen, assisting with preparation setup and general organization (Daily).
• Assist with serving meals, including carrying dishes and supporting table service (2–3 times per day).
• Set up tables for meals, ensuring cleanliness and proper arrangement (2–3 times per day).
• Wash and properly store dishes, utensils, cookware, and tableware (2–3 times per day).

Laundry and Clothing Care

• Perform laundry tasks including washing, drying, folding, and ironing clothing (Daily).
• Handle delicate garments with appropriate care techniques (Daily).
• Organize closets and wardrobes to maintain order and accessibility (Weekly).
• Prepare outfits for daily use or specific occasions (Occasional).
• Pack and organize clothing and personal items for travel (As needed).

Household Organization and Support

• Maintain organization across all areas of the home, ensuring spaces are tidy and functional (Daily).
• Monitor and restock household supplies as needed (As needed).

Guest and Household Support

• Provide support during visits, ensuring spaces are clean and ready for guests (As needed).
• Prepare and maintain guest rooms and shared areas before and after use (As needed).

Additional Care Task

• Provide basic care for pets, including feeding, water, and walking when required (Daily).
• Maintain plants and flowers, including watering and care (2–3 times per week).

High-Standard Cleaning and Presentation

• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and attention to detail across all areas of the home (Daily).
• Make beds with a neat and consistent presentation (Daily).
• Manage linens, including changing and organizing bedding and towels (Daily).
• Ensure all areas remain clean and presentable throughout the day (Daily).
• Perform detailed cleaning of fixtures, high surfaces, and decorative elements (Monthly).

Experience:

Cleaning Techniques and Materials

• Knowledge of appropriate cleaning methods for different surfaces, including wood, marble, and delicate materials.
• Experience handling fragile items such as glassware and decorative objects.
• Ability to properly clean and maintain household equipment and appliances.

Laundry and Garment Care

• Experience in garment care, including washing, ironing, and handling delicate fabrics.
• Knowledge of wardrobe organization and clothing care.

Household Operations

• Understanding of general household cleaning routines and maintenance.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently within a daily schedule.
• Experience supporting kitchen-related activities.

Service Orientation

• Willingness to perform hands-on household tasks with a proactive attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and adapt to household preferences.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.

Organization and Inventory

• Ability to maintain organization in closets, storage spaces, and common areas.
• Experience managing basic inventory of cleaning supplies and household items.
• Proactive approach to identifying needs and replenishing supplies.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in luxury private households
• Experience supporting both housekeeping and daily household service needs
• Experience with fine materials and high-value environments
• Knowledge of etiquette and hospitality standards preferred
• Strong, verifiable references
• European or American passport is required
• Fluency in Spanish and English (Spanish spoken within the household)
• Highly presentable, energetic, and professional demeanour
• A genuine love for animals

Work Schedule & Flexibility:

• The position operates under a rotational and irregular schedule, based on the needs of the household.
• May be required to work consecutive full weeks (including weekends), followed by equivalent periods of scheduled time off (e.g., one to two weeks on duty, followed by one to two weeks off).
• Flexibility is essential, as schedules may vary according to family presence, travel, and special events.
• Availability to adjust working days and hours with advance notice is expected.

Accommodation:

• For candidates with residence in Belgium, this could be a live-out position. But if the candidate needs accommodation, this can be considered a live-in position.
• During travel periods to Florida, live-in accommodation will be provided (private ensuite bedroom or nearby hotel).
• Meals during the work schedule are considered.
• All travel expenses covered.

Salary:

• €4,000 – €5,000 per month (DOE)
