Butler - New York

We are working exclusively with a lovely couple based on the West Side of New York who are seeking an experienced Butler to oversee the smooth daily operations of their 7,000 sq ft, five-bedroom, five-bathroom apartment. This role requires a polished professional with strong formal service skills, fine wine knowledge, and a confident yet discreet approach. You will work closely with their established team, including a Chef, two Housekeepers and a Driver, ensuring seamless coordination, exceptional service, and a warm, refined household environment.

This is a live-out position suited to a candidate with proven experience in similar UHNW private residences. The couple have no children or pets and values someone friendly, down-to-earth, respectful, and able to integrate naturally with the existing team. Exceptional communication, service etiquette, and the ability to maintain 5* standards are essential.

You may also be required to travel with the couple on occasion to their residence in Los Angeles.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the household, ensuring the residence runs smoothly
• Deliver formal butler service, including table settings, beverage service, and guest hosting
• Provide fine wine service and maintain the wine collection to a high standard
• Liaise effectively with the Chef, Housekeepers and Driver to coordinate schedules and workflow
• Manage household inventories, supplies and procurement
• Maintain impeccable presentation of all front-of-house areas
• Coordinate with external contractors and service providers as required
• Assist with event planning and execution, ensuring flawless guest experience
• Uphold strict discretion, professionalism and household protocols
• Support the Principals during periods of travel, including occasional travel to Los Angeles
• Oversee household technology and ensure smooth functioning of smart home systems
• Provide general household management reporting and communication to the Principals

Ideal Candidate

• Strong formal Butler background with refined service etiquette
• Proven experience within UHNW private households
• Excellent knowledge of fine wines; sommelier training advantageous
• Confident, polished and well-presented with a warm, approachable manner
• Strong leadership and communication skills, able to integrate well with existing staff
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
• Tech-savvy with experience managing modern household systems
• Flexible with working hours and able to travel when required

• Working schedule: 5 days per week (flexible to include weekends when entertaining)
