Silver Swan Recruitment is delighted to be working with a single-family office to appoint a Traveling Personal Butler to assist a well-regarded UHNW Principal. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a small, close-knit team serving a well-travelled, highly personable individual who divides his time across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.
The Principal travels approximately 200–250 days per year and currently works with a Senior Butler who manages his day-to-day needs on the road. As the team grows, a second Traveling Personal Butler is now required to provide additional support, ensure seamless continuity of service, and allow for a flexible on/off rotation. The two Butlers will work alongside one another initially, with the new appointee gradually taking ownership of independent trips as confidence and familiarity develop.
This is a lifestyle role that suits someone who genuinely enjoys travel, thrives in dynamic environments, and understands the mindset required to support a Principal at this level. The ideal candidate will be polished in presentation, instinctively discreet, and relaxed in the company of high-profile individuals. Candidates based near a major international airport hub are preferred; applications are welcomed from those holding a US passport or the right to work in the US.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the Principal's wardrobe on the road, including packing, unpacking, garment care, and ensuring appropriate dress for all occasions and environments
- Anticipate and fulfill the Principal's daily needs from morning through to evening, including preparation of morning routines, ordering meals, and overseeing room service
- Work with the traveling concierge to ensure seamless delivery of Principal's day-to-day needs including transportation, hotel arrangements, and activity bookings
- Liaise closely with the Principal's Executive Assistant and Personal Concierge to ensure the Principal is aware of his upcoming schedule, in person and virtual meetings are met and requests are actioned promptly
- Work with traveling concierge to ensure all travel-day operations including airport transfers, private aviation coordination, luggage handling, and customs documentation are taken care of
- Run personal errands and fulfill ad hoc requests efficiently and without fuss
- Provide occasional dog care when Principal travels without the full dog care team
- Ensure hotel rooms and residences are prepared to the Principal's standards prior to arrival
- Coordinate with accompanying staff including chefs, personal trainers, and other household personnel as required
- Maintain impeccable personal presentation and professional conduct at all times
- Support the Senior Butler with larger trip preparations, providing overlap and coverage as the rotation develops
- Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion at all times. The appointed candidate will be required to sign a comprehensive NDA. A strict no-photography and no-social media policy applies throughout the role.
- Support the Senior Butler in managing and updating the Principal’s wardrobe inventory
- Support the Senior Butler in pre-positioning appropriate wardrobes at the Principal’s properties around the world
Ideal Candidate
- Male candidate as requested by the client
- Background in luxury hospitality, yacht service, butler training, or private household staffing; formal valet experience advantageous but not essential
- Genuinely comfortable with an extensive travel schedule and a highly fluid, unstructured working environment
- Physically fit and able to sustain the demands of near-constant international travel, often with heavy luggage
- Calm, laid-back, and unflappable; able to read the room and know when to engage and when to step back
- Immaculately presented with a strong awareness of dress standards across different cultural and social contexts
- Highly discreet, trustworthy, and professional at all times
- A natural team player who can work closely with an existing Senior Butler and wider household team
- Flexible and adaptable with excellent initiative; comfortable with ambiguity and frequent last-minute changes
- Strong communication skills; responsive and concise in digital communications
- Must hold a US passport or the right to work in US, and be based within easy reach of a major international hub; unrestricted international travel capability with no visa restrictions is required
