Position suitable for a team/couple.

We have a great opportunity for a Captain to join a brand-new 40m motor yacht from build stage, with delivery and handover scheduled for May 2027 in Italy. You will be leading a new-build project from the yard through to operations for a private Mediterranean-based program.

The role:

  • Join the vessel from July during the build phase in Italy ahead of handover in May 2027.
  • Oversee all aspects of the new-build process, setup, operational readiness, and delivery preparation.
  • Manage the safe operation and overall running of the yacht once operational.
  • Maintain exceptional presentation, safety, and operational standards onboard.
  • Handle budgeting, administration, and compliance responsibilities efficiently.
  • Lead and build a professional, motivated onboard team.
  • Private Mediterranean-based program.
  • Couple applications considered, although not essential.

What we're looking for:

  • Master 500GT or Master 3000GT minimum.
  • Previous new-build or shipyard experience essential.
  • Strong Mediterranean cruising knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • High safety standards with strong attention to detail.
  • Budget-aware with solid administrative capabilities.
  • Hands-on, diligent, and trustworthy approach.
  • Open to experienced Chief Officers stepping up, provided they have the relevant operational knowledge and experience.

What's on offer:

  • Salary: €12,000–14,000 DOE.
  • Leave: 60 days.

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Yacht.

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications:

All applicants must hold a valid ENG1 certificate to be able to apply for this position.

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
