Silver Swan Recruitment is currently seeking a summer Butler for a longstanding UHNW client's family visit to the United Kingdom. The client maintains two prestigious properties across London and Surrey, and candidates with the flexibility to work across both locations are highly desirable. This is a wonderful opportunity to join a well-established household team with whom we have worked closely for a number of years.
We are recruiting a summer Butler to support the household during the family's visit, scheduled from April/May through to the end of September. Securing candidates in advance will ensure a seamless transition upon the family's arrival. This position presents an excellent opportunity to contribute to the smooth running of two exceptional private residences whilst gaining further experience within a UHNW environment.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK and hold their own accommodation. No accommodation is provided. Previous yacht steward or stewardess experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a first-class butler service to the Principal and household guests, ensuring the highest standards of service at all times
- Manage the formal dining experience, including table setting, silver service, and the presentation of meals and beverages
- Oversee the care and maintenance of silverware, china, glassware, and all household valuables
- Manage wardrobe care for the Principal, including pressing, garment care, and the organisation of clothing and accessories
- Coordinate the arrival and departure of guests, ensuring the household is impeccably prepared throughout
- Liaise professionally with other members of the household team to ensure seamless day-to-day operations
- Support with the management of household supplies, ensuring all items are fully stocked and replenished as required
- Run personal errands and carry out ad hoc requests for the Principal as needed
- Assist with the preparation and running of private events, dinners, and entertainment
- Maintain the utmost discretion and confidentiality in all aspects of the role
- Report any maintenance concerns or household issues promptly to the House Manager
- Uphold the highest standards consistently, particularly during periods of high occupancy or entertaining
Ideal Candidate
- Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK – sponsorship is not available for this position
- Must hold own accommodation and transport within commutable distance of Surrey and Mayfair
- Full availability required between April/May and October; pre-booked holiday is considered
- Previous experience within a private household, luxury hospitality, or yacht environment is essential
- Confident working as part of a larger household team in a fast-paced, high-standard setting
- Exceptional attention to detail with refined service and presentation skills
- Discreet, professional, and respectful of the Principal's privacy at all times
- Flexible and adaptable, with a positive and accommodating attitude
- Previous yacht steward or stewardess experience is highly advantageous
Package
- Start Date: April/May – October (Temporary Summer Contract)
- Working Schedule: 5–6 days per week, 8–9 hours per day, working in rotation with the wider team; weekend cover required as needed
- Hours are subject to whether the family are in residence
- Salary: £30 per hour

Work Experience Requirements:
All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Yacht.
Language Requirements:
Good knowledge of the English language is required.
Certificates and Qualifications:
A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
