Silver Swan is currently working with a private client to recruit an experienced and adaptable Temporary Yacht British Nanny for an exciting Mediterranean cruising opportunity. The successful candidate will be responsible for the care of two lovely young girls, aged 18 months and 4 years, aboard a private yacht. This role suits a nanny comfortable working within a yacht environment and who thrives in a dynamic, travel-based setting.

The position is for an initial two-week contract, commencing approximately late May, with the possibility of extension. The Nanny will share a cabin with the Senior Housekeeper, with sole use of the cabin available at times. All meals will be taken with the crew.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide full-time, attentive care for two young girls aged 18 months and 4 years throughout the duration of the charter
  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities, play, and learning opportunities both on board and ashore
  • Maintain consistent and nurturing daily routines including mealtimes, nap times, and bedtime
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children at all times, with a strong awareness of onboard safety protocols
  • Accompany the family during shore excursions and off-vessel activities
  • Liaise professionally and warmly with the Principal and crew in a calm, flexible manner
  • Keep all children's areas neat, organised, and well-stocked with appropriate toys and supplies
  • Support light preparation of children's meals and snacks as required
  • Maintain discretion and professionalism at all times in a private household/yacht environment
  • Adapt seamlessly to changes in schedule, itinerary, or routine as the charter demands

Ideal Candidate:

  • British passport holder
  • Previous experience in a yacht, travel, or private household nanny role
  • Comfortable and confident working on board a vessel; physically fit and sea-ready
  • Safety-conscious with a calm, reassuring manner around young children
  • Adaptable, easy-going, and a strong team player within a crew environment
  • Professional, discreet, and well-presented at all times
  • Paediatric first aid certificate desirable
  • Non-swimmer applications considered, but swimming ability and physical fitness preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and a warm, nurturing approach

Package:

  • Working hours: 7:00am – 7:00pm (no more than 12 hours per day)
  • Cabin accommodation provided on board (shared with Senior Housekeeper)
  • All meals provided with the crew
  • Travel expenses covered
  • Salary: £250 – £350 Net per day DOE

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Yacht.

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications:

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
