CHIEF OFFICER 38M MY

A fantastic opportunity for a Chief Officer to join a brand-new 38m Dutch-built motor yacht, due for delivery at the end of May. This is a rare chance to step into a key position from build stage, shaping onboard systems and deck operations from the outset on a dual-season, adventurous program.

  • Join the vessel during the final build phase, spending the first two months in the shipyard overseeing setup and preparation.
  • Lead the development of onboard systems including mini ISM, safety manuals, and operational procedures.
  • Take responsibility for navigational management including passage planning and chart corrections.
  • Manage deck setup, storage planning, and sourcing of tools and equipment.
  • Oversee deck operations and lead by example within a small team.
  • Private program initially, with plans to transition into private/charter in the future.
  • Dual-season cruising with upcoming itinerary including the UK, Norwegian fjords, and potentially the Baltic.
  • Start date: ASAP or within the next two weeks (flexible for the right candidate).
  • Male candidates only due to cabin arrangements.

What we’re looking for:

  • Yachtmaster Offshore minimum (essential).
  • OOW or working towards OOW preferred, but not essential.
  • Around 4 years’ experience on yachts of a similar size.
  • Previous Chief Officer experience preferred; strong Second Officer candidates considered.
  • Solid navigational knowledge with proven experience in passage planning and chart work.
  • Organised, proactive, and switched-on approach with the ability to take ownership of systems and setup.
  • Hands-on leader comfortable working across both bridge and deck operations.

What’s on offer:

  • Salary: 5000 – 5500 Euros DOE.
  • Leave: 60 days per year.
  • Opportunity to join a brand-new Dutch build and play a key role in setting up the vessel.
  • Exciting, off-the-beaten-track itinerary with exploration-focused owners.
  • Supportive, personable owners with a genuine interest in crew and program.
  • Long-term potential as the vessel transitions into a private/charter program.
