Deckhand/Mate for a 24m motor yacht (Ferretti 940) based in Italy, supporting a private family cruising programme primarily around Sicily. Small crew setup with the Captain and Deckhand/Mate onboard. Seasonal role May–October with flexibility to start earlier in March or April to familiarise with the vessel.

  • Assist the Captain with safe operation and navigation of the vessel.
  • Support manoeuvring, docking, anchoring, and passage preparation.
  • Carry out washdowns, detailing, and general cleaning of exterior and interior areas.
  • Maintain the vessel, equipment, and onboard systems to a high standard.
  • Complete pre-departure and post-trip checks to ensure operational readiness.
  • Liaise with marinas, suppliers, and service providers as needed.
  • Work closely with the Captain to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

What we're looking for:

  • Yachtmaster minimum qualification, ideally held for at least one year.
  • Minimum of a couple of years' experience on motor yachts and confident handling skills for this size of vessel.
  • Good knowledge of Mediterranean cruising, ports, and marinas; practical, hands-on attitude to maintenance.
  • Professional, reliable, team-oriented; fluent or conversational English; Italian advantageous.

  • Seasonal position on a brand new Ferretti 940 with a Sicily-focused itinerary.
  • Shore-based accommodation arranged (crew do not sleep onboard) and daily meal allowance provided.
  • Leave accrued pro rata and arranged with the owner; potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Yacht.

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications:

All applicants must hold a valid ENG1 certificate to be able to apply for this position.

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
