Marine HR & Compliance Advisor
Southampton

I’m recruiting for a Marine HR & Compliance Advisor to join a leading marine services business supporting the superyacht sector. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong MLC and flag state knowledge to step into a varied, high-impact role.

You’ll provide professional HR and compliance support across the full seafarer employment lifecycle, acting as a trusted advisor to yacht owners, managers, captains, and crew.

This is an office-based position in Southampton, with flexible working options available. Only candidates within a commutable distance and with existing right to live and work in the UK will be considered.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising on seafarer employment agreements, HR processes, policies and procedures
  • Supporting disciplinary, grievance, sickness, and employment-related matters
  • Ensuring compliance with MLC 2006 and Flag State regulations
  • Supporting compliance record keeping and audits
  • Providing guidance to crew employment and payroll teams
  • Line managing a Crew Compliance Administrator
  • Supporting reporting and senior leadership
  • Representing the business at client meetings and industry events

Essential:

  • Strong knowledge of MLC 2006 and Flag State regulations
  • Proven ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Right to work and live in the UK

Desirable:

  • Previous superyacht experience (Purser / HoD level ideal)
  • Experience handling sensitive HR matters
  • Fluent in English
  • Second language (French, Italian or Spanish)
  • CIPD qualified or working towards

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Yacht or a Cruise Ship.

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications:

All applicants must hold a valid ENG1 certificate to be able to apply for this position.

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
