Delisle Walwyn St. Maarten B.V is seeking a hardworking, highly motivated individual to fill the position of First Mate for their 12 Metre Challenge Department. The successful candidate must be a multi-tasker and adapt to changes within the department. This position reports directly to the Captain, Delisle Walwyn St. Maarten B.V.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Tender Captain to lead the 12 Metre Regatta team in St. Maarten. This role is ideal for a strong maritime professional who demonstrates leadership, teamwork, and a hands-on approach to vessel operations, crew management, and maintenance. Moreover, the candidate should be team-oriented and be prepared to provide high-quality service in a dynamic environment, especially within the maritime and tourism sectors. The following areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following:

General Responsibilities:

• Sail as a FIRST MATE aboard the 12 Metre vessels for tours and special events.
• Fulfill maintenance duties as assigned by your chain of command (Skippers, Operations Manager)
• Manage crew of assigned vessel under direction of Skipper.
• Ensure vessels safety and vessel maintenance checklists are filled out and filed.
• Take a leadership role for maintenance and crew training under the direction of Skippers.
• Be prepared and willing to jump into various roles on-demand (briefing, tender and committee boats dispatching etc). in general, be a team player.
• Work with managers and colleagues on group projects.
• Undertake such other tasks, special request or other related services as may be directed by management from time to time.

Skills and Requirements:

• Must possess a STCW Certification.
• Strong knowledge of boat handling, vessel operations, and general maintenance of watercraft.
• Ability to set and adjust race courses for regattas and flag signaling.
• Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to changing tasks or responsibilities.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with team members, managers, and guests.
• Ability to work under pressure and stay calm during events.

Preferred:

• Experience in handling large or luxury vessels.
• Familiarity with the specifics of 12 Metre vessels.
• Knowledge of racecourse design and sailing regulations.
