JOB DESCRIPTION Skipper
We are looking for an experienced skipper who is based in Mallorca for a 70ft custom built wooden sloop sailing yacht, similar to a Hook Design. The yacht is based in Mallorca and primarily focused on private charter. The yacht caters for 6 guests, in 3 cabins with 3 en suite bathrooms and 2 crew with a separate crew cabin. We only do full week charter and 3 day, long weekend charters.

Role:
The role of the skipper encompasses all aspects of managing a sailing yacht of similar size. This includes, besides the most important point of making our clients happy, the operation of the yacht, keeping all systems up to date, doing the maintenance, managing third-party stakeholders, working in a team, selecting and managing the second crew, as well as managing the administrative work related to the operation of a commercial sailing yacht.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities include hosting guests and managing client experiences on a regular basis. Our clients do charter with us as they have some sailing knowledge but mainly want to enjoy a luxury sailing experience. Your main responsibility will be sailing and building exciting programmes for our clients. As our clients will be hosted for multiple days by you and our hostess/chef, your working hours will vary according to the needs of our clients.

You will work hand in hand with our chef/stew and supervise their activities. Ideally, based on your past experience, you will hire the temporary second crew for the season who mainly focus on guest service but can also assist during sailing, anchoring and berthing.

As an experienced skipper you will manage difficult and unexpected issues which may relate to the yacht or medical emergencies.

Personality:
You are an experienced skipper with broad sailing knowledge and thoroughness in managing yacht systems. You are open, honest, engaging with clients and owners while maintaining professional boundaries. You are organised, reliable, fluent in English and ideally Spanish, a strong leader and team player, positive, and committed to continuous professional development.

Appointment and Working Hours
This is a full-time appointment with intensive work periods, especially from June to September. Extra days like weekends will be compensated on a 1 for 1 basis in the off season.

Requirements
You have proven experience skippering sailing yachts of similar complexity: plus 70 ft in size, hydraulic and electrical deck systems, and complex machinery for self-sufficiency. You have a minimum of three years' professional skipper experience on comparable charter sailing yachts and familiarity with commercial vessel coding such as MCA Cat 2. Qualifications required include RYA Yachtmaster Offshore with commercial endorsement (or equivalent legally accepted qualification in Spain), RYA Powerboat Level 1, STCW, First Aid Level 2, and Long-Range Radio certificate to meet commercial requirements.

As an ideal candidate you meet the above criteria, enjoy cooking and can assist the chef with a captain's dinner, are comfortable with technology and electronic tools to optimise yacht operations, and have solid knowledge of wooden boat maintenance from prior experience.

Further details including yacht specifics, salary, incentives, and the 2026 charter schedule will be provided to suitable candidates. The ideal start date is May 1st.
