Job Summary:

The overall scope is to implement, maintain and monitor AV/IT systems associated with media and internet and resolve any operational problems. Take assignments from the AVIT Senior Technician to respond to alarms, breakdowns and callouts.

Background, Skills and Abilities:

  • A formal qualification in electronics engineering or a computer technology related subject
  • Proven experience with AV sources, control and distribution systems: IPTV management, TVRO, VoD, DigiValet, Crestron, CCTV, Lutron, users iPad devices, Background Music System, Gaming Consoles
  • In-depth knowledge of AV/IT – ability to troubleshoot RF networks for Satellite / Cable TV and configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP on fibre, UTP and Wi-Fi data networks
  • Knowledge of Windows, Apple and Android systems, phones and tablets – able to provide tech support for users and diagnose common PC problems
  • Excellent fault-finding skills and assessment of remedial action
  • Workplace Health and Safety Compliance – ensure safe work practices are maintained
  • Proven ability with writing reports, work lists, specifications and scopes of work
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and find the cause of faults and report on repairs and maintenance requirements.
  • Supervise the repairs conducted by outside contractors.
  • Assist in the production of the weekly progress report for incorporation into the Technical Department update for the client.
  • Utilize experience and understanding of bespoke media, IT, and actuator systems for programming, updating, maintaining, and repairing.
  • Provide back-end support for Building Management Systems, fire detection systems, Access Management systems, PAVA, etc.
  • Manage and maintain desktop computers, servers, printers, switches, routers, firewalls, VoIP phone systems, software implementations, security updates, VPN gateways, file servers, intrusion detection systems and a wide range of additional technologies associated with both software and hardware within the network.
  • Make recommendations for equipment purchase and system design.
  • Support staff and clients through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues.
  • Assist in the Technical Department’s electronics inventory in coordination with the Storekeepers.

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Yacht or a Cruise Ship.

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications:

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
