Position suitable for a team/couple.

About the Villa

The property is located in the South of France, in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

There are two villas on the property of approximately 600 m² and 180 m². These are used as a holiday home, primarily during holiday periods and the summer season. When the owners are in the South of France, they may ask the live-in couple who also work at their main home to assist.

There is an existing local team in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat including a housekeeper, two gardeners and one security guard. External subcontractors attend weekly for exterior works.

This is a LIVE-IN position. Accommodation will be provided as an apartment located outside the property.

The Project

We are seeking a couple to fill complementary roles: a Handyman/Caretaker/Driver and a Head Housekeeper/Cook, available to join ASAP.

Handyman / Caretaker / Driver duties include:

  • Car maintenance for property vehicles: checking fuel, cleaning, logbook checks, tyre pressures and basic safety.
  • Chauffeuring/driving on demand for owners' appointments, airport collection and errands.
  • Exterior maintenance alongside the gardening supplier: grass cutting, trimming, weeding, sweeping, terrace care and managing exterior furniture seasonally.
  • Maintenance and care of three pools and outdoor kitchen/pool-house areas.
  • General technical surveillance of equipment, monitoring and reporting dysfunctions, welcoming and supervising external subcontractors to avoid damage.
  • Minor interior technical tasks: paint touch-ups, door and bulb repairs, basic plumbing and HVAC checks.
  • Security monitoring of domotic systems and ensuring property accesses are secured.

Big repairs are handled by contractors and covered under warranty; the handyman will coordinate and not interfere with contracted major repairs.

Head Housekeeper / Cook duties include:

Housekeeping:

  • Cleaning and maintaining interiors: vacuuming, floors, carpets, surfaces, bedrooms and bathrooms.
  • Changing linens, making beds, replenishing toiletries, towels and household supplies.
  • Liaising with dry cleaners for specialist garments and coordinating collections.

Laundry: Care of bedlinen, towels and household linens; sending designer or delicate garments to dry cleaners when required.

Service & Catering: Setting up dining areas, serving owners and guests during visits. Preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner during owners' stays, focusing on traditional French and Mediterranean family-style cuisine. For larger events the family may hire an external chef.

General Tasks:

  • Monitoring and maintaining stocks of cleaning products and household supplies.
  • Doing groceries and ensuring kitchen and household stocks are replenished.

Desired Profile

  • Highly autonomous, able to report and respect hierarchy; passionate about private household service.
  • Previous experience as a housekeeper and as a handyman/caretaker is mandatory.
  • Experience with traditional French and basic Mediterranean cuisine.
  • Decent technical skills for basic property maintenance, security, plumbing and electrical tasks.
  • Comfortable with animals; not allergic to dogs.
  • Multitasking, flexible, organised, proactive, discreet and trustworthy; able to work well with a partner.
  • Fluent in Italian and French.
  • Must hold a driving licence; access to a car on the property will be provided for errands and duties.
  • No criminal record; honest and reliable.
