We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Captain to take full responsibility for the safe operation, management, and maintenance of a privately owned sailing catamaran. This is a year-round position for a professional mariner who will work closely with a Chef | Host as part of a permanent two-person crew. Captain and Chef | Host couples are welcome to apply.
The ideal candidate brings strong sailing expertise, proven leadership, and the ability to manage a vessel independently within a crew-managed program (no external management company). The Captain will ensure smooth operations, safe passages, proper maintenance, and an enjoyable onboard experience for both owners and guests.

Key Responsibilities
Vessel Command & Navigation
Safely operate and command the vessel under sail and power in varying conditions.
Plan and execute seasonal passages between cruising grounds (Caribbean ↔ U.S. East Coast).
Ensure compliance with all maritime laws, safety standards, and flag-state requirements.
Owner & Guest Services
Deliver an exceptional onboard experience for owners and their guests.
Coordinate itineraries with owners while balancing safety, feasibility, and comfort.
Work seamlessly with the Host/Chef to maintain a welcoming and enjoyable environment.
Maintenance & Repairs
Oversee all aspects of vessel care, including preventive maintenance, routine servicing, and troubleshooting.
Manage scheduling and execution of refits, upgrades, and warranty/service work in Florida.
Maintain accurate logs, inventories, and service records.
Crew Management & Collaboration
Lead and manage the onboard crew (Captain + Host/Chef).
Ensure fair workload distribution, scheduling, and overall crew well-being.
Coordinate with additional crew when required for longer passages.
Administration
Manage budgets, provisioning, and vendor relationships.
Coordinate with the vessel owner/company on planning, scheduling, and reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience as a Captain on sailing catamarans of comparable size (50ft+).
STCW and all required maritime certifications current.
Strong seamanship, navigation, and passage-planning skills.
Mechanical and technical proficiency for hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Professional, approachable demeanor with a guest-service mindset.
Prior experience managing seasonal cruising programs in the Caribbean and U.S. East Coast strongly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
$6000 - $7500 per month | depending on experience

Work Experience Requirements:
All applicants must have previous experience in working on yachts matching the following requirements:
- Yacht sizes: < 24m
- Experience length: min 5 years
Language Requirements:
Good knowledge of the English language is required.
Certificates and Qualifications:
A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
