Compliance Manager

I have an opportunity for a Compliance Manager to join my client, a large Yacht Management team in Germany. This position plays a key role in ensuring safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance across a fleet of yachts, acting as a central link between shore-side operations, onboard personnel, and regulatory authorities.

This role would suit an experienced seafarer looking to transition ashore, or someone already in a shore-based position seeking a new challenge.

All applicants must already reside in Germany or be willing to relocate, and must have the existing right to work in the EU.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee compliance with international maritime regulations, including ISM, ISPS, and environmental standards
  • Maintain and update Safety Management System (SMS) documentation, policies, and procedures
  • Review and approve ship-generated documents, SOPs, and risk assessments
  • Liaise with flag states and serve as the point of contact for security-related matters
  • Coordinate audits, compliance reviews, and internal reporting
  • Implement regulatory updates and distribute fleet-wide communications
  • Evaluate security incident reports and support development of Ship Security Plans
  • Drive continuous improvement through analysis of non-conformities and crew feedback

Requirements:

  • Degree in Nautical Science or relevant maritime training
  • Sailing experience on-board commercial vessels or yachts
  • Strong understanding of ISM Code; DPA/CSO/Auditor certification preferred
  • Prior experience in maritime compliance or yacht management desirable
  • Familiarity with classification society and flag state regulations
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • High proficiency in English and MS Office
  • Some international travel may be required

On offer:

Generous salary and multiple employee benefits.

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Yacht or a Cruise Ship.

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications:

All applicants must hold a valid ENG1 certificate to be able to apply for this position.

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
