Under the new STCW 2010 requirements for training and certficiation, updated proficency training will need to be undertaken in Advanced Firefighting every five years.
Seafarers who have an STCW Advanced Firefighting certificate or Seafarers training of the Advanced Firefighting (4 day) undertaken prior to 31st January 2002.
This is a theoretical (classroom based) course. The content is focused on controlling Firefighting operations on board ship, organising and trianing fire parties, fixed systems and fire investigations.
Will be in the form of oral questionaing, observing and group work.
Certificates will be awarded to all successfully completing the course.Course accredited by the Marine and Coastgaurd Agency MCA. This course does not remove the obligation for holders to update their Fire Prevention and Firefighting certificate every five years.
Delegates undergoing firefighting training will be required to complete and sign a confidential medical declaration to make us aware of any health problems, disabilities or injuries that we may need to take into account whilst attending this phyiscally demanding course. It is therfore essentianl that delegates feel healthy and are physically fit to undertake such training.
