This STCW course is essential for crew assigned to provide first-line medical care on board. It is a required prerequisite for the Medical Care course and a key step toward senior qualifications such as Officer of the Watch (OOW).
Course Content
- Emergency response skills for trauma, resuscitation, and casualty stabilisation
- Assessment and monitoring of head, spinal, and musculoskeletal injuries
- Maritime-specific protocols for burns, bleeding, poisoning, shock, and temperature-related conditions
- Use of shipboard medical kits and procedures for obtaining radio medical advice

Entry Requirements
Minimum age: 16 years
Valid Elementary First Aid (A-VI/1-3) certificate
Certificate must be issued by a maritime authority of an IMO White List country
If EFA certificate is expired, candidate must have 6 months of documented sea service within the last 5 years, or must retake EFA prior to enrolment
