- We need a proven and experienced Chef and a Host/ess team!
- Do you have previous chalet management experience?
- Your yachting background and similar experience will be highly regarded!
A privately-owned ski chalet in the middle of a world-famous ski village is seeking a management team (Chef and Host/ess) for their beautiful and classic 8-bedroom chalet with capacity for 16 guests. The successful candidates can be a couple or a proven working team.
This resort is a world-renowned and acclaimed ski resort, and attracts celebrities, royalty, and the world's most influential families as chalet owners and visitors for its excellent skiing and snowboarding opportunities, and for its world-class après-ski scene.
Candidates should be open to hands-on work in whatever capacity is required for running the chalet to a 5-star standard and to provide excellent care for the owners, their sophisticated guests, and rental clients.
Candidates should be conscientious, proactive self-starters with ambition and a desire to impress. The couple must be able to work honestly and discreetly without constant supervision.
It is imperative that you can demonstrate success in a similar venture – at least two years - and have excellent customer service/communication skills as the calibre of guest is very high – similar to yacht charter guests.
Professionalism, efficiency and a warm and positive personality are essential for success. Candidates must maintain a calm and professional demeanour at all times.
French (and other European) language skills would be a huge advantage for the candidates to possess, but if not, then fluent English skills are sufficient as all guests would be able to converse in English.
Non-smokers only please.
Valid driver's licenses are required for both candidates.
Duties: The food offered must be of a high-end / Michelin-star restaurant standard as the chalet has a sophisticated clientele. They expect freshly prepared, healthy, creative and delicious daily meals and weekly menus which can be customised according to each group’s preferences, food intolerances, allergies, etc. Evening meals are 3-course and can be for up to 22 people. Breakfasts must provide the full range of options. Service during meals is also expected from the host/ess. (Please provide a sample menu when applying)
The Chef when necessary might serve as a general DIY handyman and will work with the caretaker or source new vendors to perform normal maintenance work that may be required in the chalet.
Bar/alcohol service is expected and therefore knowledge of wines, spirits, beers and cocktails would be required. Barista skills also highly useful.
The successful host/ess candidate will be responsible for answering enquiries, marketing to an elite target market of corporates and families as the chalet is hired out as a whole each week (not by individual rooms). You will be taking bookings and maintaining the booking calendar, attending to guest requests, concierge services for the owner and his family as well as rental clients. This may include ski rentals, lift tickets, and massage, spa, restaurant, après-ski and nightclub bookings. You will also oversee the chalet's social media online profile. Therefore office/administration experience and an excellent grasp of social media platforms is essential. Overall you will be expected to perform at a high-level of efficiency for the business executive owner who keeps an office in the chalet, and for the needs of clients who may include international business titans and top-tier corporate groups.
You will clean the chalet daily - general area cleaning/organising - to ensure that the chalet is running in perfect order. On large guest ‘turn-around’ days you will be provided with outside cleaners whose work you will oversee. At other times you will maintain HK functions i.e. daily bed-making, evening turn-downs, etc.
Daily tasks for the team include shopping and ordering for groceries and household supplies, organising laundry deliveries, managing household stocks and supplies, running errands and help with sourcing vendors (such as the caretaker, landscapers, snow removal, etc). Daily transport service to ski lifts (all are a 5-minute drive from chalet) may be expected for the owners and for rental clients who request this service.
Accommodation (off-site) is provided for a couple in a lovely 1-bd apartment. If two singles in the team, then an allowance is given for your accommodation in the town. There is also a vehicle (van) provided for your use for shopping as well as to drive the family and rental clients to and from ski lifts and errands on request daily from 8-10am and 3-5pm.
Contract Duration: The season goes for 17 weeks and the estimated start date would be November 1. Approx. finish date April 30. The expectation is that the successful management team would be happy to commit to returning each year for at least 3 years.
Excellent employment conditions: A competitive monthly salary will be offered, per Swiss law, to the right candidates/team with bonuses paid for certain KPIs: this will be based on reviews by rental clients and your efforts towards creating new and returning guests, and for your longevity in the role.
The tips are also very good. Medical insurance during your employment is also covered.
Note: Ideally chef candidates would hold a valid Swiss patente, however if not, candidates can work under the supervision of a patente holder. In order to obtain a Swiss work permit, a European passport is preferred. However, assistance may be provided for candidates to obtain their official work permits.
