Job Summary

The Laundry Attendant is expected to provide guests and staff with the highest levels of service, efficiency, and care with regards to their clothing and laundry whilst also including the care and maintenance of fine furnishings, upholstery and textile items throughout the Property. This will also include the general maintenance of the laundry machinery along with the necessary organization and maintenance of storage spaces and compartments.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain all areas of the laundry, including laundry processing equipment and linen cupboards in a clean, hygienic and tidy condition.
  • Ensure that all cleaning equipment and materials are maintained in a safe, clean and efficient condition and report to the Head Housekeeper where any item requires repair or replacement.
  • Ensure that all chemicals used in the laundry room are replenished as required and make the Head Housekeeper aware of stock needs to ensure continuous operation of laundry processing.
  • Process all household linen and residents’ personal clothing ensuring items are processed at correct temperatures according to fabric type and that items are thoroughly cleansed and stain free.
  • Ensure that any items requiring thermal disinfection are processed correctly and that infection control policies are strictly adhered to, including correct handling of soiled items with appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure that all household linen and staff uniforms are ironed and pressed to a high standard and report items that require replacement. Check that uniforms are clearly labelled with staff names.
  • Return household linens and staff uniforms to linen cupboards as appropriate.
  • Understand responsibilities in relation to Fire Procedures, Health and Safety, COSHH, Infection Control and Emergency Aid.
  • Undertake other duties within the general scope of the post and be aware that social activities connected with the home may require voluntary attendance outside normal working hours.
  • Be cost conscious with the use of cleaning materials, linen, towels and other consumables.
  • Shoe care.
  • Know high-end laundry delivery procedures such as use of delivery basket, tissue paper and garment folding.

Work Experience Requirements:

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Yacht or a Cruise Ship.

Language Requirements:

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications:

A valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate is required from all applicants. Please sign up for an STCW course and obtain the certificate if you don't have it yet.
